Frozen on Zoom and Facebook
On Saturday 15 May 2021 I watched the Singapore district 80 contest on line on zoom and Facebook. During the humorous speech contest the speakers kept being frozen.
Speakers should supply the written version of their speech. If they lose sound, at least the audience can see the written version. We see written versions of Churchill and Martin Luther King Jnr and books of quotations.
We can also judge how the spoken version added, subtracted, or was enhanced by the performance.
At district level you are not allowed to use backgrounds because that favours those who are technically proficient and the speech composition and performance should be what is being judged.
Hm. How long will this ruling continue? At some point the ability to use technology proficiently will be part of being a professional speaker. the question is, who will the booking agent employ, represent or recommend?
